Brasserie D'achouffe brewed their first beer (La Chouffe) in 1982.
The story goes that the gnomes from the Houffalize area in Belgium's Ardenne wispered the original recipe into the brewers' ears. D'Achouffe beer is re-fermented in the bottle as well as in the barrel. It is fruity, spicy due to the use of coriander and has a dry bitter aftertaste due to the hops.
